Just beginning

I am a nurse and LOVE my job. LOVE it. With the economy being the way it is, I, as well as lots of other people I'm sure, have been thinking of ways to turn my passions into paychecks. I could just pick up extra shifts at work, but that's not very fun. I absolutely love decorating our house, shopping at places like Tai Pan and Rod Works, going to Parade of Homes, and looking through home remodeling magazines at Home Depot. My husband will go down the sprinkler parts isle and I can be found in the magazine section. I want to stay way later than he does.

So, my mission? I want to see if I can truly turn a passion into a paycheck. I'm not sure I want to be a full-on designer. I don't have time to go back to school because I'm already in school right now for more nursing degrees. But, I would like to do in-house consultations and help people stage their house for living and enjoying, helping them to love the space they're in. Home should be a place we want to be and I think decor can accent the family's personality and turn it into a vibrant and fun environment.

Here are a few pictures of our houses. As always, decor is a work in progress due to budget. With an unlimited budget, we'd all get exactly what we wanted...right?

The best part about this picture is the hutch...I got it for free off KSL.com! It was in horrible condition and my brother-in-law who does cabinets offered to fix it up for me. He peeled off the ugly gray (yes, gray!) paint, stripped it, then repainted and glazed it. Best deal of my entire life!

We finished the basement in our last house by ourselves and I was sad to leave it.

Obviously, there are no window coverings. We were getting right on that after I took the picture.

House #2

House #1

I have ideas for what I want to do in my own house, and I want to start working on those soon...but is there anyone out there who wants me to practice on their space?? :)
